In the winter of 2022, a young man's life was tragically cut short in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia. Ramir Parrish, a 21-year-old male, was murdered on Friday, December 23, 2022. The incident occurred in the rear parking lot of Big G's Laundromat, located on the 100 block of West Chelten Avenue, where Parrish was employed.
That afternoon, at approximately 4:27 p.m., Parrish had spoken to his mother, Angela, informing her of a party at his workplace.
Just minutes after that phone call, she received another, this time from her twin sister, with the devastating news that her son had been shot multiple times. Philadelphia Police responded to the scene and transported Parrish to Albert Einstein Medical Center, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced deceased by medical personnel.
Described by his mother as the 'protector of the family,' Ramir was a loving and outgoing individual who was known for his willingness to help others, particularly the elderly. He was a father to a son named Hakeem and was eagerly anticipating the birth of his second child, a daughter to be named Lyric Dream Parrish, with his girlfriend, Tiana Gibson. He was also a budding rap artist known as 'ChuckyPnb,' who had dreams of making it big in the music industry.
The pain of Ramir's loss was deeply felt by his family, including his younger sister, Imani Royal, who considered him her confidant. His death was another tragic blow to his mother, who had previously lost another son, Markeish Amir Johnson, to violence in 2016.
In the months following the shooting, the Philadelphia Police Department investigated the case. On April 19, 2023, an arrest was made in connection with the murder of Ramir Parrish. The case is currently pending trial.
