Deputy Sheriff Brandy Lyn Winfield, aged 29, was tragically shot and killed on October 14, 2004, while on duty with the Marion County Sheriff's Department in Ohio. He was dispatched to check on a disabled vehicle on State Route 423 and encountered two men walking along the road. After making contact with them, no further communication was made with dispatchers.
