The suspect in Ramiro Sanchez's murder was Igmidio Mista, a 33-year-old
man who was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Mista, who was not a U.S. citizen and was living in Fremont illegally, pleaded no contest to the murder charges and was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 44 years. The shooting also claimed the lives of Jose "Andy" Chavez, an off-duty Elmore police officer, and Daniel Ramirez, a veteran, while a fourth person, Ramiro Arreola, was wounded but survived.
