Cameron Tyler Clemmons, a 24-year-old male, tragically lost his life on January 29, 2016, in Cincinnati, OH. Clemmons was shot multiple times while crossing the street in the Bond Hill neighborhood. He was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered about five gunshot wounds. The incident occurred in front of an apartment building on Franklin Avenue near Oakdale Avenue.
Bond Hill Elementary School, located a few blocks away, was temporarily placed on lockdown following the shooting.
The investigation led to the arrest of William L. Chambers, a 25-year-old male, who was charged with murder in connection with Clemmons' death. Chambers was indicted on murder and aggravated murder charges. He was found and arrested a few weeks after the incident, and was being held at the Hamilton County Detention Center at the time of his arrest. Chambers had a prior criminal record, including convictions for weapons and drug charges, as well as a previous sentence for felonious assault, robbery, and receiving stolen property following a carjacking in Bond Hill.
The community response to Clemmons' death was one of frustration and sorrow. Residents and community outreach advocates expressed their exhaustion with the ongoing violence in the area.
