James William Edward Wade, a 45-year-old Black man, was killed in Columbus on the morning of December 24, 2016, in a case that still reads like a scene frozen in the dark just before dawn. At about 6:52 a.m., Columbus police officers and medics were sent to the area of Brinwood Place and Noe Bixby Road on a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Wade lying in the yard at 5036 Brinwood Place, wounded by gunfire. He was rushed by medic to Grant Hospital’s emergency room, but he died ...
