On May 17, 2014, Tyrone Hilton, aged 50, was fatally shot during a violent home invasion at 1352 Terrace Lane in Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred around 10:14 p.m. when two armed men broke into the residence, attempting to rob Lamont Quarterman, another occupant of the apartment. During the robbery, both Quarterman, aged 28, and Tyrone Hilton were shot by the assailants.
While Quarterman survived and was transported to a hospital in stable condition, Tyrone Hilton was pronounced dead at the scene.
The attackers fled after the shooting, leaving behind a five-year-old girl who was in the apartment but thankfully unharmed. Descriptions of the suspects indicated that both were young Black males, one wearing a dark blue hoodie and the other a red hoodie. Despite the available descriptions, no arrests have been made, and the case remains open, with Columbus police continuing to seek information from the community to bring the perpetrators to justice.
This was the 36th homicide in Columbus in 2014, and it remains unsolved. Authorities are still appealing for witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers to help provide closure for Hilton's grieving family. Crime Stoppers has offered a reward for information leading to an arrest, emphasizing the need for community assistance to resolve this tragic case.
