Terry William Benson Jr., a 47-year-old man from Plymouth Township, Ohio, tragically passed away on September 28, 2018, at Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born on August 4, 1971, to Cindy and Terry W. Benson Sr. Benson was well-known in his community as an entrepreneur and respected businessman. He owned a Snap-On Tools franchise and later a Matco Tools franchise, and he also started TW Benson Enterprises and TW Benson Trucking, Inc. Benson was survived by his children, Leigha and Terry W. Benson III, and his stepson, Michael Pendergast, whom he had raised since age two.
On the day of his death, Ashtabula County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a house on West Prospect Road. They found Benson on the ground with a gunshot wound. Kevin D. Kettlewood, 47, of Madison, was charged with voluntary manslaughter in connection with Benson's death. Kettlewood was taken into custody at the scene and later arraigned in Ashtabula Municipal Court. He was held in the Ashtabula County Jail on a $25,000 bond while the case remained under investigation.
