On August 23, 2020, 29-year-old Alexander Anderson, a male of unspecified ethnicity from Newark, Ohio, was fatally shot in Kimbolton, Ohio. Anderson was found lying in the road with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred when Anderson's vehicle broke down, and he was waiting for help alongside a female friend.
The friend called 911 to report the shooting and fled the scene in Anderson's vehicle.
Following the incident, the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation. Two suspects were arrested in connection with Anderson's death. Katelyn Null, a 27-year-old woman from Mount Vernon, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and complicity to commit murder. Jacob Harper, a 25-year-old man from Newcomerstown, was also arrested and charged with murder. Both suspects were taken into custody and awaited legal proceedings.
Additionally, Joshua Jackson, a 30-year-old man from Uhrichsville, was identified as a person of interest in the case. Authorities urged the public to report any information about Jackson's whereabouts, as he was considered armed and dangerous. Another individual, Kasey Means, a 24-year-old woman from Coshocton, was arrested and charged with obstructing justice in connection with the shooting.
The investigation revealed that Anderson may have been involved in an illegal drug deal, although there was no evidence of drugs at the scene. Harper claimed that Anderson tried to rob him during the incident, but this assertion was disputed by the prosecution due to lack of evidence. Harper was later sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of Anderson.
The case remains a tragic example of a senseless killing, with authorities still seeking answers about the motive behind Anderson's death.
