On October 7, 2020, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Columbus police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 5000 block of Arborwood Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered 26-year-old Dontey Jacquce Wiley, an African American male, lying in the middle of the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead an hour later.
Investigations revealed that Wiley had been sitting in a parked car with a 23-year-old woman when they were approached by brothers Q'Juantez and Quintez Poole. An exchange of gunfire ensued, during which Wiley was fatally shot, the woman sustained a graze wound, and Quintez Poole suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his groin area but survived.
On November 2, 2020, a Franklin County grand jury indicted 24-year-old Quintez L. Poole for the murder of Dontey J. Wiley. Subsequently, Q'Juantez Poole was also charged with murder, attempted murder, and felonious assault in connection with the incident. In February 2023, a jury found Q'Juantez Poole guilty on all counts. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 27 years. ,
