David "Bugsey" Yeley, a 61-year-old man from Oak Hill, Ohio, tragically lost his life on October 30, 2020. His death was part of a series of shootings that occurred in the Oak Hill area that morning. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Oak Hill Police Department were dispatched to two separate locations where three adults had been shot. David Yeley's body was discovered at a home on Dark Hollow Road around 7 a.m., and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation
revealed that two other individuals, Paul E. Sheets and Tabatha Sheets, were also shot earlier that morning on Ohio Avenue. Paul Sheets was found in stable condition at Cabell Huntington Hospital, while Tabatha Sheets was in critical condition at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Authorities believe the shootings are connected and have charged Lonnie L. Sheets and Lisa L. Sheets with felonious assault in connection with the shooting of Paul Sheets. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues, with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Oak Hill Police Department, Scioto County Sheriff's Office, and the Ohio Bureau of Investigation all involved in the case.
The tragic events of that morning have left the community in shock, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full extent of the incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
