On March 27, 2020, Mark Simmons was found shot to death, and a female was wounded by gunfire on the 3800 block of Alabama State Highway 69, south of Oakman, Alabama. The incident led to the arrest of Dustin Paul Morgan, who was charged with Simmons' murder.
