In the spring of 2011, the life of a young Birmingham teenager was cut tragically short by an act of violence that remains unresolved. Willie Jacquan Burch, a 17-year-old African-American male and a student at Midfield High School, was shot in an incident that would ultimately claim his life. For more than a week, he bravely fought for survival, clinging to life after the shooting. His battle ended on April 7, 2011, when he succumbed to his injuries.
