On the evening of September 24, 2023, 21-year-old Telik Ryheem Nevels was fatally shot in Bessemer, Alabama. The incident occurred around 8:52 p.m. in the 2600 block of Seventh Avenue North, where Nevels sustained gunshot wounds during a reported assault. He was pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m.
