McKinley Watson, a 50-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically lost his life on August 8, 2014, in Columbus, Ohio. Watson was fatally shot inside a vehicle in a Southeast Side alley following an argument. He was discovered by officers responding to a shooting behind a home on Oakwood Avenue just before 10:00 p.m. Despite immediate medical attention, Watson succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The investigation revealed that Watson was shot
inside the vehicle, and a male black suspect fled the scene immediately afterward. The Columbus Police Homicide Unit identified Andre Lavon Boozer, Jr., a 35-year-old male, as a suspect and filed an arrest warrant for murder on August 13, 2014. Boozer's last known address was on Carpenter Street, a few blocks away from the scene of the shooting.
The case drew significant attention as Watson became the 61st homicide victim of the year in Columbus. The authorities urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
