On May 6, 2019, Jose Hermilo Lopez Gutierrez, a 50-year-old man of Hispanic ethnicity, was fatally shot in Springfield, Ohio. The incident occurred in the 1100 block of Clifton Avenue, where Gutierrez was found against a car, having been shot in the arm and side. He was later pronounced dead at Springfield Regional Medical Center. Investigators determined that Gutierrez was also robbed during the attack, as witnesses reported seeing the suspect reaching into his pockets after shooting him.
