Christopher Alan Haycook, a 33-year-old male from Columbus, Ohio, tragically passed away on December 31, 2020. He was found in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound in the 700 block of E. Jenkins Avenue, after a shooting occurred in southeast Columbus. Haycook was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition but was pronounced dead shortly before 12:30 a.m. The suspected shooter remained at the scene and awaited police arrival.
The incident took place just before 9 p.m.
on December 30, 2020, near the intersection of Hanford Street and Gilbert Street. This marked Columbus' 174th homicide of 2020. The Columbus Police Homicide Unit and Central Ohio Crime Stoppers have been involved in the investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward.
