In the early evening of July 22, 2026, tragedy struck in the South Franklinton neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio, when 15-year-old Deniro Arnold was fatally shot. The incident unfolded just after 5:45 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 700 block of Canonby Place. When Columbus Division of Police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds. Both Deniro and a 19-year-old man were rushed to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Deniro Arnold was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The initial investigation into the shooting suggested the violence stemmed from a conflict between the two individuals who were shot. As the case progressed, law enforcement identified and charged multiple suspects in connection with the death of Deniro Arnold. Less than a week after the shooting, a 17-year-old, Antwon Kendrick, was taken into custody and charged with murder and felonious assault. Shortly after, two more arrests were made, with a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old also facing charges of murder and robbery for their alleged involvement. The two younger teenagers were subsequently booked into the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.

In addition to the three teenagers taken into custody, a fourth suspect, 19-year-old Jereniah Willoughby, was identified and charged with theft and tampering with evidence. While an arrest warrant was issued for Willoughby, he remained at large as of early August 2026, and authorities have asked for the public's assistance in locating him. The investigation has brought forth several individuals facing serious charges, painting a picture of a violent encounter that ended a young life and left another individual critically injured. The case continues to develop as law enforcement seeks to apprehend the remaining suspect and the legal process for those already charged begins.
