Malik Shaheem Amar, a 43-year-old male of African American ethnicity from Columbus, Ohio, tragically passed away on January 6, 2021. Malik was born on June 27, 1977, in West Virginia and worked as an electrician. He was a family man who loved spending time with his daughters, Makala and Maleigha, and was deeply loved by his family and friends.
On the night of his death, Malik was one of two victims in a fatal double-shooting in the southeast Columbus neighborhood.
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when Columbus Police officers spotted a suspicious vehicle and found Malik and another victim, David Knox, both with gunshot wounds. Malik was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the shooting, Ash Shaheed Abdullah Ibn Jamii, a 40-year-old male, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection with the incident. Jamii was taken into custody on January 8, 2021, and faced legal proceedings for his involvement in the deaths of Malik Amar and David Knox.
