Timothy Edward "Timmy" McGuire, a 21-year-old male from Columbus, Ohio, tragically passed away on June 30, 2021. He was born on May 27, 2000, to Timothy E. and Hobrina McGuire. Timmy was known for his love of wrestling and boxing, having won multiple awards during his time at Briggs High School. He was also passionate about horse racing, often attending races with his family.
On the morning of June 30, 2021, Timmy was involved in an argument with Jonathan Woodruff outside the Marathon
Gas Station at 3464 Sullivant Avenue in Columbus. Witnesses reported that Woodruff got into his vehicle and fired several rounds, hitting Timmy as he drove away. Timmy was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the scene.
Jonathan Woodruff, a 33-year-old male from the West Side of Columbus, was later charged with murder in connection with Timmy's death. Woodruff turned himself in to the police and was charged with the crime. This incident marked the 99th homicide in Columbus in 2021.
Timmy's death deeply affected his family and friends, who remembered him as a spectacular young man with a strong bond with his younger brother Waylon. Timmy's funeral was held on July 9, 2021, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City, Ohio, with a burial procession to Grove City Cemetery.
The case brought attention to the issue of gun violence in Columbus and led to calls for increased efforts to address the rising number of homicides in the city. The community mourned the loss of a young life and sought justice for Timmy and his family.
