Dalyn Lee Sheppard, a 23-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, tragically lost his life on January 1, 2025. Sheppard was shot on the city's east side, in the 3600 block of Kirkwood Road, just south of East Livingston Avenue. Officers responded to reports of a gunshot victim around 9 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Sheppard suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately provided aid until medics transported him to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

father, brother, uncle, cousin, and co-worker. Born on July 28, 2001, he was known for his intelligence and determination. At the age of 17, he graduated from both Arts and College Preparatory Academy High School and Columbus State Community College, earning a degree in business. He briefly pursued a degree in audio engineering, though his studies were interrupted by the pandemic. He was deeply involved in his community and cherished by his family, including his son, August Lee, and his partner, Vivian Raylynn.
Authorities have been investigating the circumstances surrounding Sheppard’s death. A male suspect was detained at the scene and questioned by detectives. However, details regarding any formal arrests or charges have not been disclosed. Investigators continue to review evidence to determine what led up to the shooting. The Columbus Police Homicide Unit has urged anyone with information to come forward.
Sheppard will be remembered for his perseverance, hard work, and helpful nature. In his leisure time, he enjoyed outdoor activities, including riding his quad and driving his Jeep. His passing has left a deep void in the lives of his loved ones, who continue to mourn his loss while seeking justice for the tragic incident.
