Dwaine L. Thomas, a 52-year-old man from Warren, Ohio, was tragically found dead on August 11, 2021, at the St. Andrews Manor apartment complex on Southern Boulevard. Police were called to the scene just after midnight following reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they discovered Thomas unresponsive at the foot of the steps to a unit in the 400 block of the street.
The Trumbull County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Thomas’ body, but the results have not been publicly disclosed.
At the time of his death, Thomas was a resident of the apartment complex, which had recently undergone significant security improvements, including the installation of over 50 cameras and additional lighting to enhance resident safety. Despite these measures, the shooting occurred, and the investigation into Thomas' death is ongoing. Warren Police Captain Robert Massucci stated that while no arrests had been made, they had some leads and were seeking public assistance to solve the case.
The circumstances surrounding Thomas' death have raised questions about the adequacy of security measures at the apartment complex. The Murray Law Firm, which specializes in security negligence cases, suggested that if the investigation reveals that the complex owner or management failed to provide adequate security, Thomas' family might have grounds to pursue legal claims for justice and compensation.
As of now, no suspects have been publicly identified, and the investigation remains active. The Warren Police Department continues to encourage anyone with information to come forward to help bring those responsible to justice.
