On July 5, 2022, Annise Purifie, a 24-year-old male from Toledo, Ohio, was tragically shot and killed in his vehicle at the intersection of Central Avenue and Jeep Parkway. Police were called to the scene at approximately 6:31 a.m. and found Purifie suffering from six gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at St. Vincent's Hospital at 7:08 a.m. The coroner's office later ruled his death a homicide.
