On August 18, 2022, 19-year-old Sincere Moore, a Black male from Columbus, Ohio, was fatally shot while attending a memorial for another victim, 21-year-old Lavarr Madison, who had been killed just three days earlier on the same street. Moore was sitting next to the memorial in the front yard of a house on South Ashburton Road when an unidentified person approached and shot him multiple times.
Despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, Moore succumbed to his injuries on August 21, 2022.
The Columbus Division of Police has not identified a suspect in Moore's killing, but they did issue a warrant for the arrest of 17-year-old Jaizion Reid in connection with Madison's murder. Police believe that the two shootings are related, but no one has been charged with Moore's death as of now. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The tragic incident marked the 89th homicide in Columbus in 2022, highlighting the ongoing issue of gun violence in the city. The community continues to seek justice for both Moore and Madison, hoping that the perpetrators will be brought to justice and that such senseless violence can be prevented in the future.
