On December 13, 2014, Tyquan Collins, age 23, was tragically shot outside the Schrock Tavern on Schrock Road in Columbus, Ohio. The incident took place shortly after a fight had broken out inside the bar. Security personnel had ejected the individuals involved in the altercation, and soon after, a gunshot was heard by both regular and special duty police officers who were patrolling the area.
Tyquan Collins was seen running across the rear parking lot before collapsing due to a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 2:25 a.m. that same morning.
Investigators indicated that Tyquan was likely involved in the fight that had taken place inside the bar prior to the shooting. Despite immediate police presence in the area, there was no known suspect or clear motive in the immediate aftermath of the incident. The Columbus Police Homicide Unit has urged anyone with information to come forward to help bring those responsible to justice. This incident was recorded as the 87th homicide in Columbus for the year 2014.
