Ceritha Williams, a 34-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on August 26, 2006, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Her death was a result of domestic violence, a pervasive issue that has claimed many lives in the state. The North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence reported that domestic violence homicides increased by 6 percent from 2005, with 79 victims in 2006.
