Nezzie Carter-Moore, an 84-year-old African American woman from Durham, NC, tragically passed away on March 28, 2008, from injuries sustained in a shooting incident on New Year's Eve. Her husband, Warren Haywood Moore, 85, was charged with shooting her in the chest and face with a .38-caliber handgun at their Normandy Street home. Moore claimed that he shot Carter-Moore because she had been practicing voodoo and cast a spell on him.
