Delores Evans Burwell, a 73-year-old African American woman from Durham, NC, tragically passed away on December 31, 2021. Her death was attributed to celebratory gunfire. On New Year's Eve, Burwell was visiting friends on Robinhood Road when a stray bullet, fired into the air as part of the celebrations, struck her. She was taken to the hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.
