On January 27, 2005, the body of Michelle Spencer, also known as Michelle Lynette Royal, was found by city workers in East Durham, North Carolina, near a creek off Chandler Road. Spencer had been fatally shot, and the case remains unsolved. Investigators have been unable to apprehend any suspects, and the case is still open, with the Durham Police Department actively seeking information from the public.
