Dorothy Shiner Phillips, a 49-year-old female, tragically lost her life on May 29, 2008, in Burlington, NC. She was a dedicated medical worker, employed full-time as a phlebotomist at Duke University Hospital Health System Clinical Laboratory and part-time at the UNC clinical laboratory. On the night of her death, she was shot by Leonard Woodies, 45, with a single-barrel shotgun while she was on the porch of their shared residence at 638 Arden Street.
