Mary Elizabeth McBroom, a 24-year-old African American woman, tragically passed away on December 17, 2018, in Burlington, North Carolina. She was affectionately known as "MeMe" by her family and friends. On the morning of her death, Burlington police responded to a reported shooting at Tucker Street Apartments on the 600 block of Center Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found Mary Elizabeth McBroom suffering from a gunshot wound. She was being transported to Alamance Regional Medical Center by EMS
