Markee Watson, a 24-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on May 17, 2014, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred at the Crossroads at Village Parks Apartments on Hidden Forest Drive around 4:15 a.m. Watson was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting was the result of an altercation between Watson and the suspects the previous evening. The suspects, identified as Raheem Mosley, Jsa’Quan Evans, Lorenzo Woods, and Adrian Manigault, drove to Watson's location and shot him before fleeing the scene.
Raheem Mosley, 22, was charged with murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and shooting into occupied property. Jsa’Quan Evans, 17, Lorenzo Woods, 22, and Adrian Manigault, 16, were charged with accessory after the fact of custody. The suspects were apprehended after University City Officers spotted their vehicle traveling along N. Tryon Street. Eastway Division Officers assisted in setting up a felony traffic stop on the 4100 block of the Plaza, where the suspects were positively identified and taken into custody. They were then questioned by Homicide/ADW Detectives and remain in custody at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
The Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Real Time Crime Center, and the Vice and Gang Unit assisted at the scene. The investigation revealed that the altercation between Watson and the suspects escalated, leading to the fatal shooting. The suspects attempted to rob Watson and shot through the front door, hitting him before fleeing the scene. The case highlights the tragic consequences of violence and the importance of thorough investigations to bring justice to the victims and their families.
