Timothy Lloyd Baylor III, a 19-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on May 23, 2014, in Williamston, North Carolina. The incident occurred on the 200 block of Martin Street, where police found Baylor suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at Martin General Hospital shortly after.
The investigation into Baylor's death led to the arrest of Simon Perry Arrants, a 23-year-old male from Jamesville.
Arrants was charged with an open count of murder for Baylor's death. He was taken into custody by the Williamston Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation on the same day as the incident. Arrants is currently being held without bond at the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail and is scheduled to appear in court.
Baylor's mother, Barbara Baylor, expressed her grief and relief at the arrest, but she still has many unanswered questions about her son's murder. She mentioned that Baylor, known as "Wiz," had spent his last three weeks at her home in Bertie County. Despite the arrest, the motive for the murder remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
