On February 7, 2025, a fatal shooting occurred on Wilson Street in Williamston, North Carolina, claiming the life of 39-year-old Cleveland Jones Jr. Authorities responded to the scene around 3 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Investigations revealed that Jones Jr., originally from Virginia, was involved in a verbal altercation with 40-year-old Brian Okeith Smith, a resident of Williamston. The dispute escalated, leading Smith to shoot Jones Jr., who succumbed to his injuries.
