Ajewan Mikal Jones, an 18-year-old African American male, was fatally wounded on May 27, 2014, in the 2200 block of Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred at the Mighty Midget convenience store, where Jones was shot by Deshawn McDowell, a 19-year-old male with a history of arrests. Jones was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The shooting took place just days before what would have been Jones's 19th birthday on May 30, 2014.
