On a grim Friday morning in October 2013, the city of Detroit was shaken by the violent death of a beloved community figure. James Blade, a 62-year-old local pastor, was fatally shot in what appeared to be a brazen robbery that went horribly wrong. The incident unfolded shortly before 10 a.m. at a bank drive-thru on the city's east side, a place of routine transactions that tragically became a scene of deadly violence.
