Jakayla Hicks, a 16-year-old African American girl from Waycross, Georgia, tragically lost her life on August 18, 2022. Her death was the result of a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when Jakayla was found in a wrecked Dodge Charger in a wooded area off the intersection of Columbus Street and Georgia 520. Despite the efforts of officers who performed CPR, Jakayla succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
