In the early morning hours of January 24, 2019, Jahil Acuff, a 36-year-old man, was found dead in his home on Grayton Street, located on Detroit's east side. His life was cut short when two individuals forcibly entered his residence and opened fire. The discovery of his body was made at approximately 8:20 a.m. that same day, launching a homicide investigation into the violent intrusion.
The subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of three individuals in connection
with the fatal shooting. Lmia Wilson, a 30-year-old woman from Detroit, along with two men, 25-year-old Demond Terry and 26-year-old Jovan Houston, were implicated in the crime. All three faced serious charges, including felony murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and armed robbery causing serious injury. Both Terry and Houston were denied bond and remained in custody as their court proceedings were scheduled.
As the legal process unfolded, Lmia Wilson entered into a plea agreement with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. In exchange for her guilty plea to the charge of armed robbery causing serious injury, the more severe charges of felony murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery were dropped. Following her plea, Wilson was scheduled for sentencing, marking a significant development in the case and a step towards bringing a resolution to the violent death of Jahil Acuff.
