Shawn-Quell Marquis Pleasant, a 19-year-old male from Raeford, NC, was tragically shot and killed on May 26, 2015. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds on a private drive behind a home in the 100 block of Malloy Street. The Hoke County Sheriff's Office determined that the shooting was gang-related and part of a retaliation effort.
In the aftermath of Shawn-Quell's death, law enforcement authorities arrested several individuals in connection with the incident.
Brandon Bernard Dockery, 22, was charged with first-degree murder in Shawn-Quell's death and was held without bond in the Hoke County jail. Additionally, Aaron Goode, 21, was arrested and charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and failing to report a change of address as a sex offender. Cordarius Stephens, 17, was also charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied building.
The Hoke County Sheriff's Office increased patrols in the Robins Heights and Scurlock communities to prevent further retaliations between the gangs involved. The investigation revealed that shots were fired at a home on Scurlock School Road shortly after Shawn-Quell's death, which was occupied by three women and four youths at the time.
