Jeremiah Albert Woods, a 39-year-old man from Raeford, NC, tragically lost his life on January 8, 2021, in a drive-by shooting. The incident occurred on Duffie Road near the intersection of Old Maxton Road around 9:10 p.m. Jeremiah Woods was driving when he was shot, and a passenger in the car was also injured. Unfortunately, Jeremiah did not survive his injuries.
The Hoke County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and began an investigation into the senseless murder.
Sheriff Hubert Peterkin stated that detectives were focusing on a person of interest but needed someone to come forward with key information that would lead to an arrest. The family of Jeremiah Woods, including his twin brother Nehemiah Woods, pleaded for help in finding those responsible for his death. Nehemiah described his brother as a good, hard-working man and expressed the profound impact his death had on the family. The shooting occurred on his niece's 21st birthday, and Jeremiah died the next day, which was his sister-in-law's birthday.
A $20,000 reward was offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for Jeremiah Woods' death. The public helped raise half of the reward amount. Despite the efforts of the Hoke County Sheriff's Office and the family's pleas for information, the case remains unsolved. The Sheriff's Office continues to seek any information that could help bring justice to Jeremiah Woods and provide some peace to his grieving family.
