On the evening of August 4, 2024, at approximately 9:41 p.m., Hoke County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported shooting at the intersection of Huckabee Street and Phillipi Church Road in Raeford, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 44-year-old Christopher M. Purcell suffering from a gunshot wound. Purcell was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
