A'Shadontae Baker, a 19-year-old African American male, was tragically shot to death on April 2, 2016, in Raeford, North Carolina. The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. at 105 Lasso Lane, where officers found Baker with a single gunshot wound to the head. The suspects reportedly shot Baker and then entered the home, taking items before leaving the scene.
The Hoke County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into the murder.
During the robbery, the suspects also held Baker's grandmother and a friend at gunpoint and robbed them. The investigation led to the arrest of 16-year-old Jordache Nebeh'yis Baldwin-Leach, who was tracked down to Rochester, New York, and taken into custody. Baldwin-Leach was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Hoke County Sheriff's Office has indicated that more arrests are expected. The community remains vigilant, and authorities continue to seek information from anyone who may have details about the incident.
