Elvin Torres-Albert, a 43-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically killed on June 20, 2016, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. in the 7600 block of West Netherland Drive. According to reports, Torres-Albert was found near the front door of the residence, having been shot multiple times. He was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect in the case, 26-year-old Juan Carlos Navarro, was arrested at the
scene. Navarro and Torres-Albert had reportedly argued, and Torres-Albert, who was unarmed, entered the home without permission. Navarro allegedly shot Torres-Albert multiple times during the altercation. Navarro was charged with second-degree murder and held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center.
The Fayetteville Police Department stated that the shooting did not appear to be a random incident, as the two individuals involved knew each other. The investigation revealed that Torres-Albert and Navarro had a prior relationship, which likely contributed to the events leading up to the shooting.
