Jaleel Downey, a 23-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on November 19, 2016, in Roxboro, North Carolina. The incident occurred at the Pine Ridge Apartments located at 1524 Pine Ridge Drive. Around 10 p.m., officers from the Roxboro Police Department responded to a shooting at the apartment complex. Upon arrival, they found Jaleel Downey lying in the front yard of the complex. He was immediately transported to Person Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
