Tyshawn Izayiah Rodney Levar Boyd, a 21-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on February 23, 2019, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of West Sugar Creek Road, near I-85, around 3:53 p.m. A MEDIC unit in the area discovered Boyd suffering from a gunshot wound on the side of the road. He was transported to Atrium Main hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department launched an
investigation into Boyd's death. On February 9, 2021, CMPD announced the arrest of 22-year-old Treyvon Harris in connection with the murder. Harris was already in custody at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office on unrelated charges when a murder warrant was issued for his arrest. Homicide Unit detectives identified Harris as a suspect through continued investigation.
