Laramie Brown, a 41-year-old man from Mims, Florida, was last seen on March 9, 2024. He had set off on his bicycle with a pocketful of unset precious stones he was trying to sell. Brown was attempting to conquer an opioid addiction that had plagued him for years and hoped to use the money from the stones to catch up on his child support. He was aware of a warrant for his arrest on the matter and wanted to clear things up before facing more legal trouble.
Brown's family became concerned when he didn't return home that day and never answered their calls. His phone was found dead by Tuesday, and more than a month later, volunteers searching a bike trail through a wooded area found Brown's bicycle. The Brevard County Sheriff's Office was notified, and Brown's body was discovered shortly after. His sister, Virginia Collins, had organized numerous searches and efforts on social media to find him. Despite his checkered past and arrest last July, she managed to convince law enforcement to take his disappearance seriously.
The discovery of Brown's body brought some closure to his family, although it was a sad day for them. They had feared the worst but wanted answers. Det. Will Cleveland of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office worked tirelessly to find Brown, chasing down every lead.
