Tyshawn Geigher, a 34-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on June 7, 2019, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. at the America's Best Value Inn on US Highway 70 East. Geigher was found lying outside the door of one of the motel rooms, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of Wayne County EMS, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of his death, Geigher had been living at the motel.
Following the incident, authorities launched an investigation that led to the arrest of three suspects. Jaime Elias Toledano, a 20-year-old male, and Cameron Chans Smith, an 18-year-old male, were both charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Both suspects were held without bond. The third suspect, Jose Amando Roman, turned himself in to authorities on June 10, 2019. Roman, also charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, was similarly held without bond.
