Bailey Scott Lynch, a 19-year-old male from Goldsboro, North Carolina, tragically passed away on November 29, 2015. Bailey was born on March 27, 1996, in Wayne County, North Carolina. He was an active member of The Bridge Church and participated in the Young Life of Wayne County.
The cause of Bailey's death was a hunting accident. On the morning of November 29, 2015, Bailey was involved in a hunting incident off Capps Bridge Road.
According to preliminary reports, a man dropped his high-powered rifle, which discharged and struck Bailey, leaving him mortally wounded. Bailey was flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he succumbed to his injuries. The relationship between Bailey and the man who dropped the gun has not been publicly disclosed, nor has the identity of the man been revealed.
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission conducted an investigation into the incident. Wildlife Officer Milton Grady stated that the findings would be turned over to the District Attorney's Office to determine whether any charges would be filed. As of the latest available information, there have been no official rulings or charges filed in connection with Bailey's death.
Bailey was survived by his mother, Kim Hankins; his father and stepmother, Jeff and Caroline Lynch; his brother, Tyler Lynch; his sister, Kayla Lynch; his grandparents, Shirley Powell, Mitchell and Shelby Lynch, and David and Eva Crockett; and his girlfriend, Hailey Sawkiw. A service to celebrate Bailey's life was held at The Bridge Church, with a private burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
