Marcus A. Guion Jr., a 30-year-old African American male, was found dead in the woods near a busy intersection in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on July 26, 2019. The Fayetteville Police Department responded to a shots fired call at around 4:43 a.m. in the 2100-block of Murchison Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Guion's body and attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Guion was considered an "armed and dangerous" suspect in a June 26 murder in the 2100-block of Henry Street. He had been charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a deadly weapon, and felony conspiracy in connection with the murder of Michael S. Beale, a 48-year-old male. The police had previously issued a press release on July 12, urging Guion to surrender peacefully to authorities.
There are currently no suspects in Guion's murder, and the police have not developed any leads that indicate his murder is connected to Beale's murder. The Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crimestoppers program is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
