Antonio Lamonte Killebrew Jr., a 23-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on July 27, 2019, in East Spencer, North Carolina. The incident occurred at 547 Heiligtown Road, where Killebrew lived 'off and on' with his girlfriend, Brittany Black, and her uncle, Eric Antron Ingram. The East Spencer Police Department reported that the shooting was a result of ongoing domestic violence at the residence.
Eric Antron Ingram, a 36-year-old African American male, was arrested and
charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Ingram, who had a history of assault-related charges, was found at the scene when police arrived. According to police, an assault had occurred just before the shooting, and Ingram was believed to have been involved in the altercation. The police had been called to the residence multiple times in the past for domestic-related incidents.
Court records revealed that both Killebrew and Ingram had filed restraining orders against each other. Additionally, three women believed to be related to Brittany Black had also filed no-contact orders against Killebrew. Killebrew had been charged with assault in various incidents in 2018, some of which were dismissed while others remained active. Ingram, on the other hand, had been charged with possession of a weapon by a felon and had a history of assault-related charges dating back to 2010.
The tragic incident left Killebrew's family devastated. His paternal grandmother, Lorraine Williams, remembered him fondly and expressed her grief over his untimely death. Killebrew was born in Virginia and had moved to Rowan County to attend Livingstone College, where he aspired to become a dental hygienist. He was an only child, as was his late father, also named Antonio Killebrew.
Ingram remains in the Rowan County Detention Center without bond as the investigation and legal proceedings continue. The case highlights the severe consequences of domestic violence and the lasting impact it has on families and communities.
