Ditwan Morgan, a 41-year-old African-American mother of two, was fatally shot as she was entering her home in the 10000 block of Bonita, near Hayes and Outer Drive. The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Earlier that evening, Morgan had a verbal altercation with unknown men outside her residence.
As she attempted to retreat into her home, where her three-year-old son was inside, she was shot in the back. The assailants fled the scene, leaving behind a senseless act of violence that cut short the life of a woman known for her dedication to helping others. Morgan was the founder of 'Change of Life,' a business she created to provide food and shelter for the homeless.
In the years following the shooting, the case has remained unsolved. Despite appeals from her family and the efforts of law enforcement, no arrests have been made in connection with Ditwan Morgan's murder. The motive for the shooting is still officially unknown, with police initially speculating that it may have been a random act of violence. Crime Stoppers has offered a cash reward for any information that leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for her death, but as of now, justice for Ditwan Morgan and her family remains elusive.
